Job Description:

W. W. Norton, the largest and oldest publishing house owned wholly by its employees, is seeking an intern in its College Print and Digital Media group to assist the Chemistry team from January to April. This internship will offer the opportunity to work on digital and ancillary resources that complement college Chemistry textbooks, and explore various stages of the publishing process. You will gain experience in a number of editorial projects including, but not limited to, preparing manuscript for copyediting and production, cataloging and organizing digital assets, testing digital content and functionality, and assisting with reviews of content.

Note: Chemistry subject knowledge is NOT required. Specific work hours are flexible, but interns usually work 3 or 4 days per week for a total of 20 hours over a 3-month period. The start date is also flexible, but applicants should be available beginning mid-January.

Experience and Skills:

Ideal candidates will have an interest in learning more about college textbook and digital media publishing. Applicants should possess strong communication skills and be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in an office environment. Knowledge of Mac OS, Windows OS, and Microsoft Office is required.Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period.
