Job Description:

The Astronomy and Geology Digital Media and Print team is seeking a highly motivated intern to assist the digital media assistant editor with editorial and production tasks in developing, managing, and producing forthcoming media and print products. The print editorial internship will include assisting with preparing manuscripts for revision and production, as well as working closely with the editorial team to research experts in the field of astronomy. Please note: NO specific knowledge of Astronomy and Geology is required!

The intern will work with the digital media team to produce online and electronic instructor and student resource materials, and with the print team to produce printed astronomy textbooks. Responsibilities will include working with online material, and formatting test questions. The print editorial internship will include manuscript prep, art logging, research, and assisting with all stages of the publishing process.

Experience and Skills:

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, digitally savvy, organized and focused, willing to learn new programs and skills on the job, and, most importantly, excited about the great potential for the media side of textbook publishing. Knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Office is required, and experience with Google spreadsheets is useful. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period starting mid-January. Juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.
