Job Description:

W.W. Norton & Company, Inc. is seeking a Marketing Manager to join Norton Young Readers. Norton Young Readers is the children’s and young adult imprint of W.W. Norton, publishing approximately 30 titles per year in the picture book, narrative fiction and nonfiction, and graphic novel categories, for all ages from elementary school to teen. This role will support the Publishing Director of Norton Young Readers. This is a full-time position based out of Norton’s headquarters in NYC.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Works with Publishing Director to develop marketing programs for Norton Young Readers.
  • Co-ordinates and executes marketing, advertising, publicity, promotion, and social media campaigns.
  • Communicates and regularly updates publishing and marketing plans to Norton’s sales force.
  • Co-ordinates and supports independent freelance publicists and others contracted to work on Norton Young Readers titles.
  • Manages and executes regular trade review submissions, award submissions, bookseller mailings, etc.
  • Monitors and maintains Norton Young Readers’ social media accounts.
  • Tracks expenditures and budgets.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Employment eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
  • Must be able to work full business hours from Norton’s New York office. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are temporarily providing employees the option to work remotely.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field of children’s/young adult trade book marketing or publicity.
  • Familiarity with children’s and young adult trade book marketplace: channels of sale, marketing and advertising platforms, review media, social media channels, etc.
  • Familiarity with contemporary children’s and young adult books, authors, and publishing trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience and proficiency with social media platforms and techniques.
  • Self-directed, independent, and organized; able prioritize and perform a wide range of tasks at different levels.
  • Creative and collaborative, suited to work as part of a small, flexible team on a growing business.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
