Job Description:

W. W. Norton & Company is seeking an Instructional Technologist to focus on learning management system course creation, maintenance and support. Our Instructional Technology team is an integral part of the Digital Product Team collaborating with our sales representatives, customer service managers and editorial teams to produce and support our end users. The position reports to the Director of Instructional Technology.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver learning management system course builds within production schedule and meeting content specifications.
  • Correct existing LMS courses as needed based on content specifications.
  • File management of exported LMS courses for team and stakeholders.
  • Interface with external customers via help desk and phone to provide instruction for course import and use.
  • Manage users and courses within the LMS for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain customer facing help documentation on use of LMS courses.
  • Understand LMS basic functions to add/edit; content, quizzes, and gradebook.
  • Respond to internal stakeholders’ question on LMS use.
  • Provide detailed documentation of product issues.
  • Understand test bank functionality of LMS.
  • Understand excel csv file creation and maintenance.
  • Stay informed of developments in the LMS community and share those insights with team members.
  • Be a positive member of a small team to troubleshoot and improve our role in W. W. Norton & Company’s digital products vision.
  • Manage multiple projects and manage your task and deliverables.

Experience and Skills:

  • Employment eligibility to work with W. W. Norton & Company in the US is required.

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Strong understanding of how LMS content functions.
  • Experience creating course content in Canvas, D2L/Brightspace and/or Blackboard.
  • Maintain production update reporting of all projects.
  • Communicate in writing or face-to-face (webinar) with professional customers to assist with use of Norton products.
  • Communicate in a timely manner to all internal stakeholders.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite; Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
  • While this position is fully remote, occasional travel may be required.
  • Working hours are typically daytime hours.
  • Other duties to support professional end users as needed.
