Job Description:

W. W. Norton & Company is seeking a Website Product Manager to join its website team. The Website Product Manager works to ensure that Norton’s websites and digital products achieve Norton’s and customers’ goals by closely collaborating with editorial, sales, marketing, support, and technology teams. With a focus on customer value, the Product Manager sets the priorities for Norton’s website product improvements.

The ideal Product Manager is a clear communicator, takes a user-centered approach to innovation, has a track record for successfully managing complicated projects with competing priorities, and has a reputation for building coalitions across teams to achieve goals. The Product Manager feels equally comfortable presenting technology to stakeholders, ideating on designs with UX, problem solving with the engineering team, or gathering input from customers. The Product Manager will report directly to the Director of Product Operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify the goals and cultivate ideas for new projects and new features to existing websites. The Product Manager will work with leaders of the Norton product team to ensure that those goals fit into Norton’s overall digital strategy.
  • Work with the business analysts, project managers, UX designers, and engineering team to facilitate a shared understanding of business needs across all product development teams.
  • Consult with the customer experience team, the business analysts, and the helpdesk as they create the onboarding, training, and support materials for new products and new features in existing products.
  • Participate in the grooming of product improvements and idea backlog and work with stakeholders on market research and data analysis on prioritized ideas.
  • Lead the development of user stories and requirements for prioritized improvements and new ideas.
  • Partner closely with business analysts, UX designers, project managers, and stakeholders to continue discovery and validation throughout development, ensuring development work achieves product-market fit.
  • Provide regular communication regarding progress and status of the enhancements/priorities to customers and internal stakeholders.

Please note - this job description is not designed to cover all activities required of the employee.

Experience and Skills:

  • 4+ years of website, product, digital publishing, or project management experience.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills, especially across teams and functional groups.
  • Extensive experience with digital publishing, stakeholder, or customer-focused programs with a proven ability to apply the right process and strategy to dynamic, evolving contexts.
  • Familiarity with web applications, cloud technology, and digital content management and a curiosity to continue to learn.
  • Strong track record of turning ambiguous business problems into concrete, sustainable programs.
  • Must be able to work full business hours (9am-5pm EST). While the Digital Product group is a global remote team, most other groups work from our headquarters in midtown, New York, so meeting times will always be within regular business hours.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Employment eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
  • W. W. Norton & Company ('Norton') strives to maintain a COVID-free workplace. To that end, being fully vaccinated is a condition of employment for all new Norton hires.
