Job Description:

Norton Professional Books (NPB), an imprint of W. W. Norton & Company, Inc., is seeking a Marketing Manager for our clinical mental health titles. This position will report to the Associate Director of NPB in charge of marketing and publicity for the imprint. The person in this position will be solely responsible for top to bottom marketing campaigns and sales strategies for the books in their purview.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Produce direct mail print and email promotions for titles including list rental selection, for pre-pub campaigns, pub day campaigns, seasonal campaigns, categorical campaigns, big media hit campaigns, professor campaigns, catalog campaigns, and webinar promotions,
  • Manage Amazon Marketing Services program (strategy and scheduling) related to titles (set up ads, monitor dynamic results, adjust keywords and bids (weekly), adding A+ content)
  • Social media: Marketing Manager will create content and maintain social media campaigns on a variety of platforms for their titles (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
  • As needed, partner with relevant organizations to increase visibility for books and authors
  • Plan and execute social media and e-mail marketing strategy
  • Marketing budget planning and management
  • Sales performance data analysis
  • Conduct ongoing market research, competitive analysis, and monitor Google Analytics data for best practices
  • Work with our Trade, High School, and College divisions on cross-market initiatives
  • Represent the Norton Professional Books division at national conferences (some travel may be required); manage relationships with booksellers and combined exhibitors handling conference-related sales
  • Conduct author meetings to review marketing strategies
  • Coordinate with UK office, foreign rights, and foreign distributors for titles being managed
  • Hire and manage seasonal interns
  • Prepare marketing bullets, keywords, key selling points, and BISAC/Norton taxonomy metadata for seasonal lists 3 times a year
  • Editing press releases and press lists, working with the assistant on outreach to major outlets and freelance journalists
  • Coordinate getting books to relevant author events; making them available for author webinars
  • Schedule and plan Norton-hosted author webinars including introducing guests, monitoring Q+A, working with platform and professional association partners, and overseeing the promotion of these events via e-mail and social media.
  • Create and manage online and print promotional campaigns and advertisements and overall strategy for 3-5 frontlist mental health titles per season (3 seasons each calendar year), as well as the NPB backlist (determining format, editing copy, working with freelance designers and vendors, list plan management, etc.)

Experience and Skills:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have 3-5 years prior experience in marketing mental health or psychology books (clinical, academic, professional, or self-help titles)
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years title-level managing experience.

Annual compensation for this position is $60,000-70,000. All salaries and salary ranges posted by Norton may vary depending on experience, skills, location and like considerations.
